Acceptance!

We are happy to inform you that our three submissions have been accepted for presentation during the 25th Bled eConference! The notifications for the teams came in one after another on last Sunday in the afternoon. This means the participating students from the HU University of Applied Sciences will travel to Bled in June. We are sure this trip will be a big learning-experience for all of us!

From now on we will get cracking on creating our prototypes and designing our posters. Of course we will keep you posted here. You can also check us out on Twitter & Facebook. If you want to take a look at who we are, be sure to check out the About us page!

Trip update

The Bled eConference is organized from 17th to 20th June and is getting closer. The big question in the last period was “How do we travel to Bled?”. We had three different travel options:

  • Car
  • Airplane
  • Train

Because of financial limitations we decided to travel by car.

The travel distance from Utrecht to Bled is 1153 kilometers. This means that we have to drive 16 hours to reach our destination. Luckily 9 of 10 students have a driving license, so we can each take a turn behind the wheel.  After this decision we contacted some car rental companies for a tender.

Besides the vehicles we also needed to take care of our stay in Bled. After negotiating with hotels through the internet we selected the hotel “House Klasika”. A week ago our stay is officially confirmed. We can safely say that the trip preparations are almost done.

Bled here we come!

e-Learnsquare update

Two weeks since our last update, but we worked hard on our concept and proposal. Find out more about the progress in this post!

The deadline for sending the proposal to the Bled eConference Committee has been set on 30 March 2012. We are nearing the completion of our proposal, which will be reviewed by our supervisors Martijn Zoet and Pascal Ravesteijn, before it will be submitted.

Also we have started to develop the prototype. The progress of the development is going the right direction, as you can see in the picture above. The technical connection with FourSquare is working and some of functional requirements have been realized as well.  We hope to implement more functional requirements into the app during the coming period.

Hopefully the 20th of April we will receive notification of acceptance of our proposal for Bled ePrototype Bazaar. If we are accepted we will start working on our poster. The poster will be a graphical representation of our concept and will be presented on the poster walk at the Bled eConference.

Check back later at www.bledconference.nl, for more status updates about e-Learn2.

e-Learnsquare

A concept by Thomas van Leeuwen, Runa Sewradj & Guido Terlouw.

Description
e-Learn2 (pronounced: e-Learnsquare) is an application that enables a presentation audience to easily access presentation information by simply checking in with FourSquare. All the content used or referenced in the presentation can be accessed and downloaded from a centralized location. The resources are stored in the cloud this allows the audience to access this data from anywhere at any time. The application improves interaction between the audience and the speaker by providing the social media associated with the speaker and presentation (e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Skype). Through social media the audience can post questions and comments about the speaker and/or the presentation on which the speaker then can use or respond to. Find out more after clicking ‘Read more’!

The second presentation round

Last week we’ve had the second presentation round. The new ideas and roadmaps have been presented. Three groups, three concepts. “eLearn2”, “Social Power!” and “Traindezvous”. These concepts will be developed to win the first prize at the Bled eConference 2012!

At the first presentation round a lot of ideas were shown. That day we discussed each idea. Doesn’t it already exist? Is it doable? Which innovative trends are used? After a voting and election round a lot of ideas didn’t make it. Only three ideas were good enough to make it. But these ideas were not yet good enough. There was a lot of work to do to make them worthy.

For two weeks everyone worked hard to improve their ideas. Two groups could just improve their already presented ideas. The other group had to change it a lot. Finally, the two weeks were over. It was time for the second presentation round. This time with a different supervisor to criticize the improved ideas.

We will present you a glimpse of each idea. The full description of each idea can be found in the upcoming blogs.

The first presentation was about eLearn2 (pronounced as eLearnsquare). The idea was pretty well developed. With eLearn2 people can login at conferences or classes. All information that was presented or educated during the conference or class will be available on your smartphone/tablet running Android. Also there will be a twitter feed during the presentation where questions can be asked. With this feature we hope there will be more interaction between the public and the speaker.

The second idea that was presented was Traindezvous. Traindezvous is an application where people can fill in their public transport travelling schemes. When filled in, you can locate other people with the same travelling schemes. It’s possible to arrange a meeting with someone with the same interests or job. It will make your journey much more comfortable and useful.

The third idea that was presented was Social Power! Social Power! is an online social platform. Organizations can join the platform. With the use of the platform, organizations together can reduce their energy consumption. With “smart meters” organizations can read their energy consumption and wherefore the energy is used. This data will be send to the personal page of the organization. With discussions and tips from other organizations they’ll be able to reduce their energy consumption. Social Power! helps to organizations to get greener!

The third presentation round will be held in about a week. In the meantime you can read the upcoming blogs about our ideas. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted!

First presentations

The first presentations about the ideas have been given! As a group we have discussed the ideas and concepts from each team to review the quality. We defined the following trends in our ideas:

  • E-learning;
  • IT for Green;
  • Open data;
  • Social.

With these themes developed into our concepts we hope that these concepts get a positive verdict from the judges. We will soon come back to you with our worked out concepts.
